People often ask where did the name 'Marduk' come from? While history doesn't repeat, it rhymes in fractals.
The story of Marduk is almost 4,000 years old originating from the Enuma Elish from Mesopotamia. The myth is stepped in multi dimensional symbolism as it conveys much of the Babylonian religious tradition. Dr. Jordan Peterson does a great job telling the story:
Chaos and Order are represented by two figures, masculine and feminine who are partners with each other and in balance. They produce children, who begin causing problems and then accidently kill their father Order. The world without Order becomes terrible and many gods appear, one by one attempting to defeat Chaos and bring Order back to life. Eventually a new god arrives, Marduk, and the other god's plea with him to confront Chaos and attempt to tame her.
He tells the other gods he too will make an attempt, but if he wins, he will become the one god to rule above all the others.
Marduk has two special powers that make him unique: he can speak magic words, and has eyes all around his head.
Marduk goes to battle against Chaos, and, using his special powers he ensnares her into a giant net! He takes no pity on Chaos, using his sword to slice her into millions of pieces. He then weaves these pieces into a tremendous tapestry to create the world humans live in.
We can use the story of Marduk to help us understand the modern, infowork world we find ourselves in.
We have many 'gods' in our lives that are supposed to be helping us, but if they are not coordinated we get chaos. Think of the apps you use, the tasks you must complete over and over again and the commitments you have made. To establish order in your life, you need a Marduk.
You must become the Marduk of your story.
The eyes around his head symbolizes always looking around, never afraid to see what is happening. Many people have businesses with one or two problems that they are too happy to ignore. Not Marduk - his eyes around his head make it impossible for him to miss something.
Then he uses his magic words. We too have words - but are they magic? If you think about all of the greatest things humans have done, they have all been done by stringing together the right words. To think and then speak or write words is magic. In today's world, much the same as 4,000 years ago, it is with our words that we make real and meaningful change in the world. Use your words: they are magic.
To win you need the right tools. We needed a better net - that's why we created MRDK.APP. It collects all of the chaos in your life and allows you to cut it into many pieces. We call those tasks, and we divide them into three categories: Projects, Chores & Responsibilities. MRDK.APP then weaves those tasks together to create your Business System - restoring Order and making things good in world again.
That's the myth of Marduk! What makes it a 'myth' is how it's transcendent: it applies just as much now as it did then. Isn't it cool how our ancestors figured this out 4,000 years ago?
